Foods Studies 11/12

 Course Description:

Foods 11/12 allows students to demonstrate advanced food preparation techniques and explore the fascinating world of nutrition. Students will further develop their independent practical cooking skills, but the course is designed to start slow so students who have not taken food’s classes before will still be successful. Units of study include breakfasts, lunches and multicultural foods with a focus on nutrition, healthy dishes, and creative labs. Course A and B alternate each school year allowing students to take this course in both grades 11 and 12 without repeating information.

 Evaluation:

Students work primarily in partners during labs, groups for projects and individually for theory work. In class student evaluation is ongoing throughout the course with the focus being on practical lab work so attendance and punctuality are extremely important. End of term evaluation is based on a group creative cooking project that demonstrates the skills students have developed each term.
